Volunteering in Nepal, give you a unique opportunity to make a real contribution to Nepali society, while simultaneously experiencing the rich culture and difference aspects of urban and rural life in Nepal
Placements are available in the Kathmandu Valleys. The exact location of your placement is finalised during the training where you will visit several potential project sites. Project placement also takes into consideration your skills and preferences and the needs and requirements of the projects.

You will be met at the airport and taken to your accommodation. All volunteers will receive initial training after arriving in Kathmandu. The training is designed to help you settle into Nepal and to ensure you are fully prepared for your volunteer placement:
Day 2 – 3
The first two days will be spent with other volunteers in Kathmandu. The training includes:
- Nepali cultural orientation / general cultural exchange
- The people of Nepal and their caste system
- Basic Nepali language classes
- Language and Skills Activities
- Sightseeing (Famous Temples & Places in the valley)
Days 4 – 6
Based in a rural village, this provides an insight into Nepali village life Training includes language classes, living with local families, eating traditional food, observing village culture and getting a general feel for the lifestyle. During this time, you will also visit several Placements where you can choose to be based.
Volunteers will stay in a shared accommodation either with a host family, in a shared house or in a hostel. Volunteers are required to bring their own sleeping bag. Two meals a day are provided as part of the programme - lunch, and dinner.
The program starts onany date of your choice. You can volunteer from 2 weeks to 3 months. If you wish to volunteer for a short period, your initial training period will be shorter than described above. Due to exams and festivals, school schedules are normally disrupted during March and April and September – November, so it is recommended that you choose another project during these times.
You do not need to have any formal teacher training or experience to participate, but whatever experience you do have will be taken into account when arranging your day-to-day activities. You just need a good command of oral and written English. Volunteers need to be independent, enthusiastic and adaptable.

Cultural orientation, basic language lesson & sight seeing around Kathmandu valley
Day 4 - 6
Village Immersion + basic Nepali Language lesson & sight seeing in the nearby villages
Day 7 - 14
Volunteer Program & placement
This is a program for
2 weeks, for longer durations the volunteering number of weeks is extended.
Program Options
There are 3 different kind of volunteering that you can join :
Child Care & Orphanage Program
The projects include Nepali run children's homes and Orphanage throughout the Kathmandu Valley. Each and every home will vary in terms of number of children, cleanliness, management capability, funding assistance, health issues, education provided, etc.
Medical Health & Education Program
Many Nepali people are unaware of issues. Therefore this program mobilizes volunteers mainly to work with the youth clubs, women's groups and other local organizations to teach them about proper health and sanitation habits.
Teaching English in Monasteries
This is a great opportunity for volunteers who want to Teach English in the monasteries. There are several Tibetan refugees Camps and Monasteries that house hundreds of Tibetan kids taking Buddhist monk educational training in Kathmandu to preserve the amazing cultural richness of Tibet and Buddhism practice.
