Our Volunteer Program in Northern Thailand is a wonderful experience! The program is based in Chiang Rai which is near Chiang Mai in the north of Thailand. Chiangrai is a great location to experience the real Thailand. The projects where you will be volunteering help the ethnic minority hilltribes, local schools for poor children and orphanages in Chiangrai and the surrounding areas.

Every program of every volunteer is tailor made! We have several projects available and for every volunteer an individual schedule will be made based upon your skills, qualification & preferences and the needs of the projects.

On the first day of your program you will receive an orientation from your Coordinator where you will receive all the information about your projects and your program. The program starts with a sightseeing tour which includes the following : city tour of Chiang Rai, visit a few hill tribe villages near Chiang Rai, visit the elephant camp and have a 20 minute ride on an elephant!.Then In the evening you will then visit the famous Chiang Rai nightmarket.

Here are the different projects that are available in Chiang Rai :

Live in with Hilltribe people
Live in a hilltribe village and work with families at whatever is being carried on such as clearing fields, planting, harvesting and community projects such as building bathrooms and school improvements. There would also be the chance of getting training in simple village crafts, such as weaving, bamboo table-making and embroidery.

Work in an Orphanage School or in a Hilltribe Boarding House
Live in a house with up to 20 hilltribe kids aged 6-15 who go to school each day during term times. During the daytime, teach English at a local school, during the evenings take care of the kids, play with kids and teach English.

Teaching English in Thai schools
You will teach English at a city center school or in schools in the countryside. Evenings and weekends can be spent in hilltribe villages. You will also have the option of spending some time living with a local Thai family and seeing rural Thai life at first hand.

Integrated Agriculture Project : building a sustainable lifestyle
The project works with local villages in three areas: household cost reduction projects, income generation projects, and water/sanitation projects.  You will be helping the villagers in building projects such as water systems, sanitation, bridges and so on.
